Why are people like this allowed to have children!?
This may end up as more of a rant, but bare with me. Here I am TTC for 9 months, and this girl I have known since elementary school, who is only 19 now, just had a baby boy. She drank for the first half of her pregnancy, was put on bed rest during the last month but still went out shopping and walking around the city. Her baby was born early and very small, she has already taken him to the mall when he wasnt even a week early and he is now sick. Ugh, I just feel bad for the baby. Why do some people view their babies as just accessories?
I was talking to my mom about exactly just this. There is really nothing that we can do about it though. Just pray that sooner than later these "mothers" (not talking about teen mothers….just bad mothers) will get a clue someday.

It’s definitely hard watching someone not care for their child properly, but you have to remember that their journey is different than yours. Her inability to care for her child properly is most likely a symptom of a bigger problem that she has. Hopefully, she will find a way to resolve it for her child’s sake, but try to focus on your own journey.

If what you are saying is true and you feel this women is abusing/neglecting her child, you need to call the authorities. I doubt she is viewing her baby as an accessory, it seems as though she has not been given the guidance she needs.

I agree with you! My sister-in-law has been trying to get pregnant for the last 4 years and has been unable to, she had 2 miscarriages, including twins and it breaks my heart to see her go through all that pain. It makes me sad that these teenagers get pregnant at 14, 15, 16, etc. and they don’t realize what an amazing gift a child really is, yet people who would make the best parents have trouble conceiving, really sad.

Not sure where to start, but immaturity, irresponsibility, and selfishness are some words that immediately come to mind. Can you imagine how many truly clueless people that there are in this world? This site is just a small percentage of the losers out there and you know how asinine and just plain wrong that the majority of the questions posted on here are. These creeps have kids and raise them in dysfunctional environments and the cycle goes on and on. Sad

Drinking while pregnant or breast feeding is child abuse to me! I had a friend who used to drink and then breast feed then she would wonder why later on her baby wouldn’t stop crying!
Just recently saw a couple at Wal-Mart take their baby outside and while they both had on warm coats and gloves, the baby only had a sleeper on with bare feet and no coat and no blanket!! Do they think their child is a doll?
I have to agree with mumof3 although only the part that she was probably never given the guidance that she needs. Parenting classes may be in order! Some people need to be taught how to care for their babies and for others it is natural instinct and pure common sense.
You know we have to go to college to get us ready for a good job so why don’t we have to go to college before we do the most important job of our lives… raising a child.

I saw a woman leave her infant in the shopping carriage parked behind her car as she climbed into the driver’s seat to check her cell phone. It would have taken only a moment for someone to snatch the child, or for the carriage to roll into traffic. I also witnessed a mother leave her infant and young toddler unsupervised at a kiddie ride in the mall while she went several stores down (and out of view) to use the cash machine. I could have had both of them in my car and on my way to Mexico before she even noticed they were gone, which is exactly what I told her when she finally came back.
My point is that even stupid people have functioning reproductive systems. Some horrible parents get pregnant just by using the same soap as their partner, while some good parents have a very difficult time conceiving. Life isn’t always fair.

There is nothing wrong with taking a young baby to the mall. You get sick from germs via people coughing/sneezing…not being outside.
I took my kids everywhere with me since they were born.Of course I always kept a blanket over their carseat while in public for the germ factor reason.
There is however a problem with drinking while pregnant and not following doctors orders.

I think you seems a bit jealous? For one It’s doesn’t mean she’s a bad mom lol because she took her baby to the mall It’s her baby not yours. Also it’s her body If she feels like going shopping and walking around it’s her body. Preemies are born everyday doesn’t mean it was premature because she should of been in bed. I do agree she is dead wrong for drinking when she was pregnant. Hopefully she realizes what she did was wrong and makes better choices. I think you need to mind your business.
